The aim of this project was to develop an office that would not only respond to the brief for a small office but also sit comfortably in its surroundings. To reduce the impact of the building on the landscape, I re-used an old shipping container that was being used as a storage shed and positioned it floating above the ground then wrapped it in logs to sit comfortably into its location on the edge of the forest. The entire envelope is externally insulated retaining the ability to expose the metal container on the internal face. An 8ft square single wall of glazing provides all the heat to the office through solar heat gain.
