Located in Cork City, this single storey cottage required extensive refurbishment and alterations. The poor insulation levels and widespread air-leakage to the original cottage were quickly addressed with detailed specifications which we drew up to surpass current Building Regulations.
In addition to the upgrading of the original cottage, a new extension to the rear of the house was also designed to sit off the rear facade of the cottage and sit comfortably into the garden. The south elevation of the new extension tapers to a narrow point at the end in order for views from the cottage to the garden to be opened up.
Striking forms and colour differentiate the new development from the old cottage.
